If you haven’t heard of the Pendleton® Woolen Mills collection, you are in for a treat! The company has a rich history in the Pacific Northwest, with patterns and fabrics inspired by Native American heritage and customs. Definitely worth a look see: Pendleton Woolen Mills.

Every year Pendleton Woolen Mills puts together a packet to send to all of their retailers of their new collections, including styles from their licensees. My client, Carolina Pet Company, is the exclusive licensee for the Pendleton Woolen Mill's Pendleton Pet Collection. Popular, iconic patterns from the Pendleton Collection have been translated and applied to a wide range of pet products that are also the perfect accessories for the home.

I was commissioned to put together just a quick little insert for the packet in a postcard format showing off the Carolina Pet Company’s Pendleton Pet Collection.

Now to get to work.

Being a licensee of a brand means you must keep within their specific guidelines and aesthetic. I have had the pleasure of working with Carolina Pet Company for a number of years, so I was familiar with the parameters of the brand. So the task is to show off the range of product from the company, while projecting the brand’s heritage and sense of the great outdoors. Not to mention, make them want to find out more and visit the website and potentially order the line for their store.

I came up with a few different ideas…

These are designs I created for the front of the card.

These are what I turned into the client. Giving them the option to select a front and back design that they would like to see work together. 

Below is the combo they selected. The design lends itself to more than just the mailer packet. We ordered more than what was needed for the mailing, and had some on hand to hand out at tradeshows and the like! It is always great when a design can be used for more than one application.
